I’m ridiculously cheap when it comes to going to the movie theatre so I pretty much only go when I can get in for free. I splurged for Toy Story 3 but other than that I haven’t paid to go to the movies all year. Amazon.com has a great deal going on right now. I think movie ticket sales must be down because there are a ton of great deals on movie tickets right now. I came across Weekly Cinema on another blog and thought it was a great idea. You get one free movie ticket just for joining to a movie of your choice (we’re going to go see Despicable Me), and for $14.99 a month you get 3 movie tickets a month, which is much cheaper than you could buy them for at the ticket booth. The tickets are good for a year so you can stock up if you need more tickets to take everyone to the movies. We have 5 people in our family so if we were planning on a night at the movies for everyone we’d have to stock up on our tickets but we don’t go to the movies that often so every few months as a family or once a month for a date night is perfect for us.
I just joined this (You can join Weekly Cinema and get your 1 Free ticket and 3 tickets a month here) and I’m excited to use our free ticket to Despicable Me, which I actually heard was pretty good. Between this, the BOGO deal for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and our San Diego Children’s Film Festival Free preview tickets we’ve been getting plenty of movie time lately.
