saving money in Southern California

I think movie ticket sales must be down because there are a ton of great deals on movie tickets right now. I came across Weekly Cinema on another blog and thought it was a great idea. You get one free movie ticket just for joining to a movie of your choice (we’re going to go see Despicable Me), and for $14.99 a month you get 3 movie tickets a month, which is much cheaper than you could buy them for at the ticket booth. The tickets are good for a year so you can stock up if you need more tickets to take everyone to the movies. We have 5 people in our family so if we were planning on a night at the movies for everyone we’d have to stock up on our tickets but we don’t go to the movies that often so every few months as a family or once a month for a date night is perfect for us.

I just joined this (You can join Weekly Cinema and get your 1 Free ticket and 3 tickets a month here) and I’m excited to use our free ticket to Despicable Me, which I actually heard was pretty good. Between this, the BOGO deal for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and our San Diego Children’s Film Festival Free preview tickets we’ve been getting plenty of movie time lately.

Menu Plan Monday – 4/12/10

by Rachel on April 12, 2010

We’re still digging our way out from under the boxes but it’s time to start menu planning again so we can start to get into some sort of a routine. We’re trying something new this week by giving each of the older kids a day of the week to plan out our menu. My 6 year old took Monday and my 4 year old took Wednesday. They poured over my cookbooks looking for pictures of something they’d want to eat. After much deliberation, my 6 year old chose a new sweet and sour meatball recipe and my 4 year old chose grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, and asparagus (the kid LOVES asparagus).
