Albertson’s Deals – 11/14-11/16

by Rachel on November 15, 2010

We’re creeping into holiday grocery deals now. This is the time of year when I stock up on all my baking supplies for the entire year. Things like spices, flour, and sugar last for a long time if they are stored correctly. If you have a second freezer you can store flour, nuts, and other dry goods in your freezer to make them last longer.

Turkeys are on sale this week at most grocery stores. We’re not cooking Thanksgiving dinner at our house this year but I’m still stocking up. For about $5-6 you can get a small turkey. I like to keep them in my freezer and cook one every month or so and use the meat for sandwiches. It will cost you more than $5 for only a pound of deli meat and turkey that you cook at home won’t have all the extra additives that deli meat has in it.

Don’t forget to hold onto your Cookware stickers.

Free Groceries at Albertsons this Week

by Rachel on September 2, 2010

Albertsons has some amazing deals this week. I usually shop on Monday or Tuesday so that I can include the new Sunday coupons in my shopping but these deals are so good on their own that I’m probably going to make several trips to Albertsons this week. Be sure and pick up the Albertson’s Fall into Good Things coupon book available in the store.

The Kraft Huddle to Fight Hunger promotion has some great coupon matchup possibilities that will let you get several things for free. I’m especially excited about the cheese because mozzarella cheese freezes just fine (you don’t even have to thaw it before putting it on a homemade pizza). You do have to buy 5 items in order for the catalina to print. You will have to do these in separate transactions but you can use a $5 catalina from one transaction to pay for the next one as long as you have enough items in your cart to make sure the store won’t owe you money.

Kraft Cheese – Sale price $2

Final Price – FREE

Cool Whip 8 oz – Sale price $1.00

  • Receive a $5 catalina back wyb 5

Final price – FREE

Oscar Mayer Meat Wieners, 16 oz. – 2/$3

  • Use $1/2 SS-8/22 or $1/2 online coupon
  • Receive a $5 catalina back wyp 5 (or 4 hot dog packages and 1 cheese or cool whip)

Final Price – FREE

    California Pizza Kitchen Catalina Deal

by Rachel on August 31, 2010

California Pizza Kitchen is one of my favorites (although ironically I discovered it while living in DC) and their frozen pizza’s are a good substitute. Albertsons has a California Pizza Kitchen catalina offer going on right now. If you’re lucky, you may be able to find some peelie coupons on the pizza box. a catalina is a coupon that prints from the register after you pay and can be used just like cash on your next purchase.

    • Buy 2 get $1
    • Buy 3 get $2
    • Buy 4 or more get $3

This catalina offer will from from 8/30/10 – 9/26/10

I love weeks when I can go grocery shopping and I don’t need to buy anything that is on sale. For our family of 5, I try and keep our monthly grocery bill under $300. We’ve been working on restocking our pantry since we moved but now we have a pretty good store of food so we typically don’t need to buy much.

Albertson’s had some great deals this week. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that the extra arrowhead water coupons I bought off ebay will be here today so I can take advantage of the sale. You can’t see them well in this picture but there are 6 cases of water hidden in there that I got for $0.25 each.

    Buying Non-Perishables in Bulk

With the exception of the cantaloupe and steak in this picture, everything I bought was non-perishable so while it does still have to be rotated, it has a long shelf life. Buying non-perishables in bulk is a great way to stock your pantry and keep a stockpile of food in case of an emergency or to tide you over until the next sale cycle.

I’ve changed my thinking about bulk food. When I used to think about buying food in bulk, I thought of going to Costco or shopping the bulk food aisle of the local grocery store (you know, where you find the enormous cans of tomato paste that promise to go bad before you can ever possibly eat the whole thing). Now, when I think of bulk food shopping, I primarily look to my Sunday coupon inserts. I use Costco pricing as a guide and try and beat it by combining coupons with sale prices. Once I find a good deal, I then buy enough of each item to get me through the next several months (or longer) until I can count on the item going on sale again. If you play the game the right way, it ends up being much cheaper shopping with coupons than it is buying in bulk from Costco or another discount warehouse.

Pay attention to prices as you shop. I now know that there are several items I usually can’t beat Costco’s pricing on (for ex. maple syrup). For those things, I stop by Costco every month or so and stock up, knowing that I won’t be able to get a better deal anywhere else.

    My Albertson’s Shopping Trip

Everything purchased above can be found in my Albertson’s grocery deal matchup for this week. There were a few things on my list that I couldn’t find at my local store but I was still able to stock up on some basics. Included in this trip were 2 packages of steaks, 1 cantaloupe, 1 box of cereal, 4 boxes of pancake mix, 6 cases of water bottles, 3 tubes of toothpaste, 4 jars of salsa, 2 packs of applesauce, 4 boxes of mac & cheese, 4 packs of goldfish crackers, 12 boxes of pasta, and 3 cans of diced tomatoes.

    Grand Total: $41.62

That is a savings of $92.18!

Albertsons has some great deals this week, especially when combined with the new coupons from today’s paper. New grocery deals come out every Wednesday but shopping after the next set of Sunday coupons comes out can save you quite a bit of money if new coupons come out for the sale items.

I took a gamble and ordered some extra coupons from ebay for the Arrowhead Aquapods deal. Most coupons I’ve purchased before have come fairly quickly and sometimes deals carry over onto another week so I’m taking my chances as a way to stock up on my water storage and have them on hand for school lunches.

    Prego Deal at Albertsons

by Rachel on July 28, 2010

I’m fairly stocked up on spaghetti sauce but Albertsons has a great deal on Prego this week so I may have to add some homemade pizza to my menu. This week Prego is on sale for $0.99, which is a pretty good deal but combine it with this coupon for $1 off 2 and it’s only $0.49 cents!

    Thanks A Thrifty Mom!

    Capri Sun Deal at Albertsons

by Rachel on April 28, 2010

I’m not normally a fan of processed food but even I have to admit it is convenient and my kids like it as a treat every once in a while so I will stock up when I find a great deal. Right now at Albertsons you can get Capri Sun Sunrise for $1.19 after using the $1/1 coupon from the 4/25 Smart Source. Go in and buy 2 and they a coupon with codes for 2 free Redbox movies will print, essentially giving you 2 boxes of Capri Sun for $0.19. If you do more than 2 boxes, be sure and do it in a separate transaction because only one coupon will print per transaction.
