Living Social has a great deal for anyone in or around Carlsbad. For only $24 you will get a 2 hour Aquacycle or Paddleboard rental. That’s a great way to try out something new without putting a lot of money into it and this would make a fantastic family activity.
We’ve lived here for nearly a year and half now and we have never been to the Carlsbad Lagoon so we’re definitely taking advantage of this deal as a way to test the waters.
Snag this deal before it’s gone!

My kids love going out for frozen yogurt because they can pick whatever toppings and flavors they want and because you purchase the yogurt based on weight, you can make it a frugal treat by only getting the perfect sized treat. FroYo has a great Groupon going on today that is good for $6 worth of frozen yogurt for only $3. I usually have some credit at Groupon from referring a friend so this was free for us. You can’t beat that! This is good for 2 North County San Diego locations (San Marcos and Oceanside).

I absolutely refuse to pay full price for a movie ticket. For the price of two tickets I could buy the movie when it comes out. Fortunately there are usually some great deals on movie tickets if you take the time to look for them. Living Social has a great deal for 2 Fandango movie tickets for only $9. That’s a great way to have a frugal date night! This deal will go for today only so hurry and grab your tickets so you have them for your next night out at the movie theatre.

I wear my contacts 99% of the time so I haven’t bothered replacing my glasses that are at least 5 years old and a good 2 prescriptions outdated because it just wasn’t worth the cost to me for the amount of time I wear them. Coastal Contacts has an amazing deal for California residents on Thursday, February 10th. They are giving away 5,000 pairs of free prescription glasses – all you have to pay for is the shipping which is under $15. That’s a GREAT deal if you need to buy prescription glasses anytime in the near future. I’ve never bought glasses online but I’ve talked to more and more people who have had good luck doing that and for the price, I’m willing to give it a try.
To get your code for a free pair of prescription glasses you have to go to the Coastal Contacts Facebook page now and claim your code. The code will be valid starting at 12:01 pm PST on 2/10. I’m going to give it a try. If you’ve used Coastal Contacts before, let us know how you liked them.

Amazon has the Scotch Thermal Laminator on sale for only $16.99. This frequently goes on sale but this is the lowest price I have ever seen it at. This is great for educational activities or protecting papers that you use frequently and for the price, it’s much cheaper than heading out to the store every time you need to laminate something.
Be sure to follow Frugal SoCal on Facebook so you don’t miss any of the great deals we find this holiday season.

I gave up shopping in physical stores for holiday gifts years ago. You can get much better deals online and don’t have to mess with any of the crowds. Right now you can get this adorable Melissa & Doug Safari Floor Puzzle for only $3.88. This is not eligible for free super saver shipping so you do have an additional $1.99 in shipping making your total $5.87 but that’s still a great price. Stock up on a few extra. These would be great to have on hand for birthday gifts throughout the year.

Movie tickets are insanely overpriced and there are some great options for getting discount tickets so I avoid paying full price at the movies like the plague. Groupon has a great deal on move tickets right now – $30 for 6 movie tickets, making them only $5 each!
These are premium movie tickets, which means they’re good for IMAX, first runs, etc. This deal is running in Seattle, but you don’t have to be a resident of Seattle to take advantage of it. Just select Seattle from the drop down list of cities to find the deal.
These tickets would make great holiday gifts. Put them together in a gift basket with popcorn and candy for a gift that anyone on your list will appreciate.

I’ve seen several photography deals pop up on Groupon but not many workshops and very few with photographers that actually look like they know what they are doing. Today Groupon has a great deal on a 6 hour photography workshop withVal Westover Photography for only $59 (normally a $450 value).
This would make a great Christmas gift for someone. I’ve been doing some pretty strong hinting myself this morning. Groupon deals are only good for one day though so you’ll need to move fast before this deal ends.
